Room for Everyone
Jay Klauss with a monster Goliath Grouper caught in mid August. This fish could easily be 400 pounds, and as a protected species was released while still in the water.<br />

Now that's a workout!
Naples resident Jason Mcgill with a large Goliath Grouper. Laws were recently changed&#160; to prohibit removing these fish from the water as they are a federally protected species.<br />

Small, three foot or so, blacktip shark. This is the one shark species here that is good table fare, especially at this size. We release unharmed all other shark species. Larger sharks are caught and released while still in the water to minimize the stress and prevent damage to the animal as they will thrash about the cockpit.<br />

Yes Dear, I am fishing!
Three generations of Bartow and barracuda. The family are all hunters and sportsmen, and practice "catch and release" fishing. The barracuda are mostly caught in the summer months from June through to the first cold snaps. Lip gaffing the fish and then swirling him through the water to fully re-oxygenate his body before release is Capt. Richs' style. Apparently during the fight lactic acid is built up in their tissues and reviving is worth the time, instead of just dumping him back.<br />
