- Description

Redfish or Red Drum are sometimes caught in offshore waters. The big ones like this are called \"Bull Reds\" and are far to big to keep as there is a slot size into which the fish must fit to eat. They are great eating, and drastic measures had to be taken to preserve them when Chef Paul Prudhomme popularized \"blackened redfish\". Commercial net fishermen hunted them mercilessly, and the government had to step in. Redfish are primarily targeted by backwater fishermen on light tackle, but the big breeders will sometimes swim by and smack any baits that we will have in the water. This is a rare occurence.
